SEE HOW WE LIKE TO HELP THE COMMUNITY WHEN WE ARE NOT HELPING YOU
As a staff, we are proud to give back to our community. We realize that the community is stronger if we all act together to make improvements and help each other. We find this act to be rewarding to the recipient as well as ourselves. Listed below are a few of the activities we have participated in.
In the past we have been lucky to have had some of our patients join us in our efforts! We would like to extend an invitation to anyone who would like to stand by our side and give back as well!
Check out the photo’s of some of our past events under the community service tab.
Capuchin Soup Kitchen- The Capuchin Soup Kitchen is a human service organization of caring and loving people inspired by the spirit of St. Francis and sponsored by the Capuchins of the Province of St. Joseph and concerned benefactors. The Capuchin Soup Kitchen serves the poor who suffer from the lack of basic human needs: material needs, such as food, clothing, and household necessities; psychological needs, such as motivation, self-esteem, and rehabilitation; and social needs, such as support systems and meaningful relationships.
In order to serve as a positive factor healing force in the spirits and lives of needy individuals, the Capuchin Soup Kitchen strives to provide encouragement, direction, and material assistance to promote growth and wholesome independence with respect and dignity.
Every person who comes to us for assistance is welcomed, without regard to race, sex, age, color, national origin, religious preference, handicap or income.
Gleaners Food Bank- For more than 32 years, Gleaners Community Food Bank has been “nourishing communities by feeding hungry people.” Last year, Gleaners distributed more than 30 million pounds of emergency food to over 430 partner soup kitchens, shelters and pantries in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Livingston and Monroe counties. Of every dollar donated, Gleaners uses 95 cents for food and food programs. One dollar provides three meals for a hungry neighbor.
Give Kids A Smile- “Give Kids a Smile” day is an American Dental Association initiative to provide free oral health care to at-risk children and to raise awareness of the number of children with unmet dental needs. During this nationwide event, thousands of dentists and other dental volunteers across the county provide free dental services to low-income and uninsured children.
Relay for Life- “Team Manzor” Much more than a walk around a track, Relay is a time to celebrate those who have battled cancer, remember those lost and get inspired to fight back. Those who have shared the same experience find common ground, hope and healing at Relay. By participating, you have the power to continue the American Cancer Society’s progress toward a future where cancer doesn’t take the lives of our friends and family.
Dental Health Month- We went to several schools in the area during Dental Health Month to teach the children about good nutrition and proper home dental care. During these visits, we donate “Care Bags” with toothbrushes, toothpaste, brushing charts and other fun items to keep them motivated about having excellent home care.
We have collected healthy snacks for an inter city school, to ensure that the children had something to eat that day that was healthy.
We collected food, deodorant, snacks, and other requested items for soldiers that were sent in care packages.
We donate toothbrushes to missionary trips.
Dr. Manzor also sponsors several of our youth patients activites such as a baseball team, robotics team, Boy Scout & Girl Scouts activities, theatre productions, & Boys and Girl Clubs of America.
