Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic dentistry, is a field in dentistry, dedicated to providing better aesthetics in dentistry.  All General Dentists can consider themselves a cosmetic dentist. Some dentist however, such as Dr. Manzor have a natural talent to revitalize a patients smile!

Common cosmetic dental treatment options include:

*    Whitening, or “tooth bleaching”, is the most common cosmetic dental procedure. While many whitening options are now available, we offer Zoom! as the quickest easiest way to whiten your teeth. We also offer take home trays to do at your convenience.

*    Bonding is a process in which an enamel-like dental composite material is applied to a tooth’s surface, sculpted into shape, hardened and then polished. With today’s technology and advancement in materials, bondings can last for 10 years or longer.

*Crowns or caps, are a thimble like covering that is put over a tooth if more of the tooth structure is missing than remains, or a tooth is discolered or broken. Crowns can be manufactured from all gold to all porcelian, depending on the tooth, the location, and the patients desire.

*    Dental Bridges are permanent restorations, which have a pontic (artificial tooth) fused between two crowns to fill in the area left by a missing tooth. The two crowns holding it in place  are attached to your teeth on each side of the artificial tooth. This is known as a fixed bridge. This procedure is used to replace one or more missing teeth. Fixed bridges cannot be taken out of your mouth as you might do with removable partial dentures.  Bridges can reduce your risk of gum disease, help correct some bite issues and even improve your speech. Bridges require you to brush and floss as you would your natural teeth.

*    Veneers are ultra-thin, custom-made laminates that are bonded directly to the teeth. They are an option for closing gaps or disguising discolored teeth that do not respond well to whitening procedures. Many people use these to close a diastema, cover heavily restored teeth, or teeth that are discolored due to tetracycline stain.

* Dental implants are an ideal option for people in good general oral health who have lost one or more teeth due to periodontal disease or an injury. Dental implants offer the look and feel of natural teeth. Implants offer stability because they fuse to your bone. Integration of the implants into your jaw bone also helps the replacement teeth feel more natural and many people find this secure fit very comfortable. Once the implant has integrated with your bone, a crown is placed over the implant giving the appearance of a natural tooth.

*Dentures can be made to replace a few teeth or all of your teeth. Usually dentures are less expensive than implants initially, but usually have to be replaced with the changing of bone and tissue over time. Another advantage is they take less time until completion. They can be placed the same day as teeth are extracted, so that the patient will never need to be without teeth.
