Dentures
If teeth are lost or must be extracted, dentures provide an easily removable replacement that can be fashioned to look very much like natural teeth. A partial denture replaces some of your teeth, while a full denture replaces all of your teeth. New advancements in dentistry have led dentures to become more comfortable and fitted to your gum. Dr. Manzor will carefully position the denture, and construct it so that it fits properly on your gum and against your other teeth when you bite down. Dentures are made of resins and porcelain. You can have an immediate denture placed the same day that your extractions are done. This will prevent you from having the embarrassment of having gaps in your smile. This denture is made before your teeth are extracted, and place immediately following your extractions. If you are replacing an existing denture, or have already had all of your teeth removed, or prefer to wait for your bone and tissue to heal after your extractions, you can have a traditional denture made. This denture tends to fit alot better than an immediate denture because it is fabricated from a very intricate impression of your mouth, and the are tried in prior to fabrication so you can see the color, placement, and shape of the teeth. Dr. Manzor only uses the best labs in the area to contruct all of her dentures. Personalized Family and Cosmetic Dentistry in Warren, Michigan only wants the best for our patients!
Even-tho they are not your real teeth, a denture should be maintained and cleaned well. They should also fit well and not move around, or you will have an irritation or discomfort while wearing them. You should not have to wear adhesives in your denture to get them to stay in place. You should clean it regularly by brushing it just as you would your natural teeth. It is preferred that you remove your dentures while you sleep. This allows your tissue to rest, and in turn it will stay healthier. Another very important reminder; you still need to see your dentist for an exam once a years. At that time, your tissue will be checked to make sure it is healthy and that you do not have an lesions under your denture.
When it come time to choosing the right type of denture for you, take your time with your decision, ask questions of Dr. Manzor and ask to see pictures of previous patients successful treatment. Dentures can be a great way to restore your smile!
